Could Be?

Graffiti gravitates to broken, chipped cement,
Where garbage, lids, empty cans, roll as they torment.
Pushing hard through mini cracks, searching for respect-
Some resourceful weeds acquire terminal neglect.

Their lineage is forever; their family tree- strong,
They spring up; take over, although maligned life-long.
Their enemies are legion, it’s “kill on command”!
Still many weeds flourish and beat the odds- unplanned.

Dutiful flowers- predictables- grown from seeds,
Do they envy this freedom- innate to all weeds?
Fertilized, pampered, confined, birthing buds galore,
Do you ever wonder-if-could be- less is more?

A Room for Two

We know past daybreak we cannot stay,
We can’t postpone nor even delay.
When we must part, when you’ve gone away-
My days will drag like a four act play.

Moonlight casts shadows, black, gray or white,
Dancing, then fading fast out of sight.
Mini blinds create ribbons of light,
Guarding privacy throughout the night.

We bared more than bodies, lying there,
Debated, decreed life isn’t fair.
We meshed, spoon-fashion, an aching pair
Caught between ecstasy and despair.

We greeted the dawn, bathed, dressed and fed.
With much to do in the days ahead.
Our teardrops ceased, we left more unshed,
Goodbye was all that remained unsaid.

Mr. and Mrs.- husband and wife,
I too am prisoner, with my term- life.
But now there’s hope, chance, with DNA!
He WILL come home, I’ll wait for that day.

Mother Nature and Father Time

Mother Nature and Father Time-
Caretakers- appointed by God.
Gifted with vision and wisdom,
To compute, condone or applaud.

He- on call is the quiet one,
Who slips unobtrusively by,
She- almost flamboyantly shouts
“My limit is found in the sky.”

She’s starring in all four seasons,
A master of duty and grit.
To all tasks that Nature’s assigned-
She has-Time- to heal or acquit

Mother Nature and Father Time,
God married these disciplined two,
Gave them a role everlasting-
With a love that knows no curfew!
